Valleywise Health gearing up to move 200 Patients to new Phoenix hospital

PHOENIX (AZFamily) —More than 200 patients at Valleywise Health Medical Center in east Phoenix will soon need to be moved.

“We are moving everybody in one day. We do not want to operate in both facilities simultaneously,” said Dr. Michael White, the Valleywise Health chief clinical officer.

They’re going from the old hospital to the new one right next door but before the move they’re practicing to make sure all their patients stay safe and healthy during the process.

“It gives the teams a chance to work through any challenges they may have,” said Dr. White.

Arizona’s Family got the chance to see how they plan to move the large number of sick people.

On the day of the actual move, each patient will have a team of nurses monitoring them, checking their vitals, and preparing to act in case there is an emergency.

The move that our crews monitored took about 20 minutes but that was just one test run. They will need to do this with more than 200 real patients on June 13.

They expect it to take about 13 hours.

“It’s important so we can identify areas of opportunities and we understand what the process is going to look like on that day,” said Dr. White.
