Therapy dogs make an impact at Monument Health

Must read

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) – A trip to the hospital can be stressful for patients, their families, and even the hospital staff, but there seems to be a cure – dogs. Monument Health has seen great success with its volunteer therapy dogs.

Dillion and Archie are rescued golden retrievers who use their love of cuddles to put smiles on everyone’s faces. With the help of their owners, Daniel and Kathie Brusseau, the pups were able to get their therapy dog certifications. As much as the dogs love their job, the Brusseau’s love it even more.

”We’ve gotten some recognition from the city and the Red Cross and it’s very humbling because we don’t do it to get recognition, we just do it to make people happy and it’s just such a joy to see what it does for people,” Kathie Brusseau said.

The Brusseau’s are hoping to encourage others to get themselves and their dogs certified in a therapy dog program to bring some joy into other’s lives.
