WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – The New Hanover County Senior Resource Center will host a fair with over 40 vendors on Thursday, May 16, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“Attendees will be able to collect information from a variety of sources within the community as well as other local, regional, and state partners. There will also be free health screenings, presentations, opportunities to build a personal emergency kit, and chances to win raffle prizes. This event is free and open to the public,” a county announcement states.

The Senior Resource Center is located at 2222 S. College Road, and the event is in celebration of Older Americans Month.

“As people get older, it’s not just about having someone to chat with, it’s about the potential community engagement can have in enhancing the mental, physical, and emotional well-being of an individual,” said Senior Resource Director Amber Smith. “By recognizing and nurturing the role that connectedness plays, we can mitigate issues like loneliness and isolation, ultimately promoting healthy aging for more older adults here in New Hanover County.”
