Around eight months after opening, Bandit Tavern and Hideaway at Fifth and Main in downtown Royal Oak has closed permanently.
In October, owner Mission Restaurant Group announced they would close the Jolly Pumpkin at this location after six years of business and reopen as a new concept Bandit Tavern and Hideaway. It was an American bar and restaurant on the main level, with a basement bar that was often used for themed pop-ups like the “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” cocktail bar around the holidays.
Monday, the restaurant group announced it was curtains for Bandit as well.
“Dear Friends, we have officially closed our doors,” reads a post on social media. “Thank you for letting us be part of the Royal Oak community. We’ll miss you!”
In addition to Jolly Pumpkin, Mission Restaurant Group oversees several brands in Michigan including North Peak Brewing Co., Grizzly Peak Brewing Co., Avalon Cafe and Bakery and Blue Tractor BBQ & Brewery.
Less than 10 months after opening, Mission closed its critically applauded Midtown restaurant Vigilante Kitchen in April. A short-lived concept with a community-focused model called Epiphany Nain Rouge Kitchen popped up in its place briefly in April but was closed again by the end of June.
