NEW HANOVER COUNTY, N.C. (WECT) – Novant Health is continuing work on its in-progress Scotts Hill Medical Center.

The 200,000-square-foot hospital will be focused on surgeries.

A topping-out ceremony was held on Tuesday, July 23, marking the raising of the building’s final beam.

“Now that patients that come to our emergency department for care won’t have to transferred down to the 17th Street campus, they will be able to stay here to get inpatient care; [it] is going to be a game changer for our community,” said Laurie Whalin, Scotts Hill Medical Center President.

Work on the hospital is expected to be done in late 2026.
