RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) – The growth of the Rapid City area could mean a greater demand for healthcare services.

Wednesday, Monument Health held a ceremony in Box Elder to unveil the construction site for one of their two new urgent care facilities coming to the Rapid City area in 2025.

The first facility will cover more than two acres and be located near Liberty Plaza in Box Elder. The other clinic will open its doors to the public near Elk Vale Road and Highway 44 in Rapid Valley.

Both clinics will offer primary and urgent care services.

With Monument Health expanding, this will make four Monument Health urgent care centers in the Rapid City area.

The two facilities would complement the existing clinics at Jackson Boulevard and LaCrosse Street.

“This reaffirms our dedication to not just Box Elder but the entire region. We know that there will be people from the east of town that will come in for urgent care services. We see those patients already at our Rapid City clinics. This will give another level of convenience for those folks,” Monument Health Vice President of Operations Mark Schulte said.

The Box Elder clinic is set to open in August 2025 with the Rapid Valley facility opening its doors in October of that same year.
