SAN ANTONIO – Methodist Hospital has acquired the DaVinci 5, the latest advancement in robotics surgical technology.

The DaVinci 5 offers patients a safer and more effective surgical experience. Surgeons can now execute complex procedures using minimally invasive techniques, resulting in smaller incisions, reduced risk of complications, minimal blood loss, shorter hospital stays, and faster recovery times. Patients may also experience less post-operative pain, enhancing their overall comfort and well-being.

Methodist Hospital was only one of 14 hospitals initially selected to receive this cutting-edge device.

“We are honored to be among the first hospitals able to offer this groundbreaking technology,” said Ryan Simpson, CEO of the Methodist Hospital campus and Methodist Hospital Landmark. “This furthers our ability to deliver the highest quality outcomes to our patients in service of our mission to bring exceptional health care services to South Texas.”

Dr. Antonio Santillan, Chief of Robotics for Methodist Hospital, recently performed the first procedure ever done in San Antonio using this new robotics technology.

“This is a very exciting advancement for our program and reiterates our commitment to excellence in patient care and technological advancement,” said Santillan. “Methodist Hospital is revolutionizing healthcare delivery through the integration of the latest in robotics.”
