Mental health crisis prompts police response in Village of Howard

HOWARD, Wis. (WBAY) -The Brown County Sheriff’s Office has responded to a situation involving a mental health crisis in the Village of Howard Tuesday night.

Authorities received information earlier today about an individual experiencing a mental health crisis in the 2700 block of Holly Way in the Village of Howard. Mental health professionals were dispatched to provide assistance, but authorities said the situation escalated when weapons were discovered at the residence.

In response to the threat, the Brown County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Response Unit and Crisis Negotiation Team were called to the scene. After a standoff, the individual was taken into custody and has been transported for mental health treatment.
