A long-serving leading light of cricket has been recognised for a lifetime of dedication to the sport in the Morecambe area.
Peter McDermid has won the Lancashire Cricket Foundation’s Lifetime Achiever Award, the Trimpell Club has announced.
Mr McDermid has been a stalwart of cricket at the Trimpell Club for many years as a player, coach and secretary, is renowned for his work on developing the cricket ground at the Out Moss Lane sports and social club, and for coaching young players.
The judging panel was impressed with Mr McDermid’s “dedication, hard work and commitment” and his nomination will now be put forward for national recognition via the English Cricket Board’s National Awards.
A spokesperson for the Trimpell said it was “well deserved recognition for all Pete does for the club”.
He also won the Westmorland Cricket League Lifetime Achievement Award in 2022.
The Lancashire Cricket Foundation, the official charity of Lancashire Cricket, works across the North West to develop and deliver a range of projects, programmes and events designed to engage, excite, inspire and improve individuals and communities through cricket. It also provides governance for the recreational game.
