EAGLE HARBOR, Mich. (WLUC) – A partnership in Keweenaw County spread awareness about an important topic Saturday.

Keweenaw Support 4 Healthy Minds held a Shine the Light 5K race in Eagle Harbor. Afterward, the County Sheriff’s Office hosted a public safety day. Attendees learned about mental health issues and their local emergency services. Race proceeds will help the volunteer group host more events to promote mental health. Keweenaw Support 4 Healthy Minds volunteer Michelle Morgan said their goal is to help the community.

“The focus of our group is to support mental health through connection and community,” Morgan said. “So, we work hard to reduce stigma. We talk openly about mental health issues; we educate the public about mental health and substance use.”

Morgan said the group hopes to hold more events and activities for the public.
