Food Safety Alert: Diamond Shruumz products recalled due to health risk

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) – The Mesa County Public Health was alerted about a recall involving Diamond Shruumz products, including infused chocolate bars, gummies, and cones.

Diamond Shruumz-brand products can be purchased online and in person at retail locations nationwide including smoke/vape shops, and at retailers that sell hemp-derived products such as cannabidiol (CBD) or delta-8 tetrahydrocannabinol (delta-8 THC).

These products have been distributed in Mesa County.

According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, these products contain Muscimol, a chemical found in certain mushrooms. There appears to be a link between the chemical and reports of illness among people who ate the products. At this time, there have been 39 reports of illness, including cases in Colorado.

Reported Symptoms include seizures, agitation, involuntary muscle contractions, loss of consciousness, confusion, sleepiness, nausea, and vomiting and abnormal heart rates.

  • Diamond Shruumz mushroom-infused chocolate cars, gummies, and cones.
  • Includes micro, mega, and extreme-dose.
  • All lots, best buy dates, and flavors are involved in this recall.
  • Visit the FDA’s website for a full list of products.

What Should Consumers Do

  • Consumers who have purchased Diamond Shruumz products are urged to stop using them and destroy them.
  • Contact Prophet Premium Blends at 209-314-0881 or email at info@diamondshruumz.com for a refund.
  • Consumers are strongly encouraged to inform Prophet Premium Blends that the product has been destroyed to ensure it is no longer accessible.

What Should Retailers Do

  • Retailers and wholesalers should discontinue use and stop distribution.
  • The FDA recommends quarantining the product immediately and contacting your sales representative.
