PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) – The doors of an 80,000-square-foot Medical Office Building in Panama City Beach are now open.

This building is the first of many being built at the TMH-FSU Health Campus.

Chief Health Operations Officer, Andrew Starr, says that there is plenty to look forward to.

“We are excited. This really is just the beginning,” said Starr.

In addition to the Medical Office Building, there are plans for a 180-bed hospital to be built parallel to Philip Griffitts Sr. Parkway and at least two more medical buildings.

If things go according to their plans there is also a possibility for a 600-bed facility at the campus.

“We have heard from the citizens in this community that there is a clear shortage of health care professionals. Consumers of this community have made it clear that they want an additional choice. We are certainly up for the challenge and are looking forward to serving the needs of the patients of this community,” said Starr.

The campus will also have an educational aspect.

“Working with Florida State, we are confident that this campus will serve as another destination for them to develop academic research programs, which will allow more professionals to come to this area. Grow in this area and stay in this area to meet the needs of the community,” Starr said.
