SAN ANTONIO – UT Health – San Antonio held an interment ceremony, also known as the Burial of Ashes Ceremony, to honor those who chose to donate their bodies to science.
On Wednesday, students, faculty, and staff gathered alongside the families of donors to celebrate the annual Burial of Ashes and honor the lives and contributions of those who donated their bodies to health professional education and research.
The donations went to the education of future occupational therapists, with one speaker noting that the donor’s contribution helps contribute to the care of every patient.
The bodies were interred at UT Health – San Antonio Memorial Park, with a permanent monument families will be able to visit for generations.
