DERIDDER, La. (KALB) – On Friday, May 17, Beauregard ER Health Center will host a groundbreaking ceremony, marking the commencement of a significant expansion project.

Valued at $34 million, this endeavor encompasses not only the establishment of new facilities but also the refurbishment of the hospital’s third floor into a state-of-the-art women’s center.

Having been in development for over three years, this initiative promises to revolutionize healthcare delivery within the Beauregard community. Its impact is poised to be transformative, enhancing services and catering to the diverse needs of the population. The upcoming ceremony serves as a testament to the dedication and collaborative efforts of all involved stakeholders.

Beauregard Health System CEO Traci Thibodeaux expressed excitement about the upcoming ER expansion, highlighting the pressing need for it.

“Currently, we’re accommodating over 20,000 patients annually in a facility designed for 13,000. It’s clear we’re stretching our resources. Rural hospitals like ours bear a disproportionate share of emergency cases, so this expansion is a direct response to our community’s needs. We’re creating a better-designed space to enhance patient throughput and ensure staff safety.”

Thibodeaux emphasized that the staff actively contributed to the design of the new emergency department, ensuring that the placement of equipment would optimize efficiency and satisfaction.
