Athlon Sports predicts the 2024 SEC football standings

Must read

The college football season is just around the corner, and the SEC is going to be even harder to win now that Texas and Oklahoma have officially been added to the conference.

That said, it is now time to start seeing predictions for the 2024 SEC season.

The latest prediction comes from Athlon Sports, which had to consider the massive changes in the SEC due to new teams, transfers, and new head coaches.

The Georgia Bulldogs, not surprisingly, are predicted to finish first in the SEC, with Texas right behind them.

As for the Kentucky Wildcats, Athlon Sports predicts them to finish 12th in the SEC behind Florida and just ahead of South Carolina.

“Kentucky has finished the past two seasons with a 7-6 overall record. In 2024, head coach Mark Stoops and Co. will look to take a step forward. After offensive coordinator (Liam Coen) left the program, Stoops hired former Boise State OC Bush Hamdan.

“Georgia transfer quarterback Brock Vandagriff will lead UK’s offense during its first year under Hamdan. Defensive tackle Deone Walker is expected to be an All-SEC talent in 2024 while others such as transfer linebacker Jamon Dumas-Johnson provide support.”

Here is the official prediction order from Athlon Sports.

1. Georgia Bulldogs

2. Texas Longhorns

3. Ole Miss Rebels

4. Alabama Crimson Tide

5. Missouri Tigers

6. LSU Tigers

7. Tennessee Volunteers

8. Oklahoma Sooners

9. Texas A&M Aggies

10. Auburn Tigers

11. Florida Gators

12. Kentucky Wildcats

13. South Carolina Gamecocks
