Ascension Via Christi: Technology restored after cyberattack should improve efficiencies, patient wait times

Must read

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – A month after a cyberattack interrupted operations with Ascension facilities across the U.S., work to restore impacted technology continues. On Monday, Ascension Via Christi announced an update that is expected to improve efficiencies and shorten wait times for patients.

Ascension Via Christi said its hospitals ( including the main facilities of St. Francis and St. Joseph hospitals) and Ascension Medical Group clinics in Wichita “have restored the primary technology used for electronic patient documentation in care settings.”

“This will allow most hospital departments, physician offices and clinics to use electronic documentation and charting. Patients should see improved efficiencies and wait times. Our team continues to work tirelessly to restore other ancillary technology systems,” Ascension Via Christi explained on its website for providing cybersecurity updates at its Kansas facilities.

The update for Ascension Via Christi St. Francis followed a national update from Ascension in which the healthcare provider reported continued progress in restoring systems across its network. On Friday, Ascension reported restoring Electronic Health Record access in its Florida, Alabama, Tennessee, Maryland, Central Texas and Oklahoma markets. The company reported that it’s aiming to have systems restored across its ministry by Friday, June 14.
