A Tantalising Feast of International Cricket Awaits Fans this Summer – gsport4girls

Must read

If you have never been to a women’s cricket match, South Africa will play England in a one-off Test at the premier South African Test venue, SuperSport Park. This event is a highlight on the South African women’s cricket home international calendar and one not to be missed.

The series will kick off with a three-match T20I series followed by a three-match ODI series. The one-off Test will be the third Test the Proteas Women have played since 2022, with several players experiencing the longer format for the first time, resulting in mixed outcomes.

In Somerset, England, in June 2022, South Africa put on a hard-fought performance to hold England to a draw in the one-off Test at Taunton. The match will be remembered.

In February 2024, South Africa, without star player Marizanne Kapp, who fell ill on the eve of the match, fought bravely but succumbed to a heavy defeat against Australia in a one-off Test in Perth.

Before the England series, it was recently reported that South Africa will travel to India next month for a series including three ODIs and a one-off Test match against India. The tour starts with a warm-up game against a Board Presidents XI on 13 June.

Last week, CSA announced that long-serving Proteas Women coach Hilton Moreeng had served out his contract and parted ways with the team. Assistant and bowling coach Dillon du Preez takes over the coaching reins on an interim basis. These will be his first assignments as Head Coach.

South Africa has just come off a tough home tour against the visiting Sri Lankans. Sri Lanka mounted their highest successful run chase of all time in T20 International cricket when they beat South Africa by 4 wickets to clinch their first-ever series triumph against the Proteas Women in East London.

Sri Lanka then went on to make further history when, in a historic performance, Chamari Athapaththu achieved a career-high score, leading Sri Lanka to a six-wicket victory over the Proteas Women to level the ODI series.

It is an important year for the Proteas Women with the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup set for Bangladesh. Dates were recently announced by the ICC, and South Africa has been confirmed to open the tournament against England, who they knocked out in the semifinals of the last competition.

Wherever you are in the world, make sure you get to a stadium where the Proteas Women are playing and show them you are the #OneMoreFan that takes them over the line.
