LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) – The $45 million Buena Vista Sports Complex, expected to be completed this month, remains under construction.
City officials broke ground on the complex in August 2022 with an anticipated completion date of July 2024. The facility will feature 10 baseball and softball fields and two multi-purpose fields for soccer and football.
District 1 Councilmember Gilbert Gonzalez stated that crews are currently leveling the land for the new fields and parking lots. “The hardest part was the leveling of the land, but now we’re moving forward with building the fields and parking lots. The timeframe is 12 to 16 months,” Gonzalez said.
Once completed, the complex will host regional and national tournaments. The second phase of the project may include a water park. The project is funded through the sports venue tax.
