2024 British Open betting odds: Who are the favorites to win this year’s Open Championship?

Must read

The oldest major in golf will make its return this weekend for its 152nd edition. The British Open at Royal Troon in Ayrshire, Scotland will be 2024’s final major of the season, and its odds leaders bring up some very familiar faces.

Scottie Scheffler, the pre-tournament favorite, may have won the Masters at the start of the year, but has failed to win either the U.S. Open or the PGA Championship since. Bryson DeChambeau may have won the U.S. Open and finished second at the PGA Championship, but has just the fourth-best odds of winning the British Open. Meanwhile, Rory McIlroy, who hasn’t won a major since 2014, sits at second on the odds boards once again.

Golf is notoriously one of the hardest sports to predict, and that has never been more evident than in this year. Scheffler has been the pre-tournament favorite for every major tournament of the year, yet has only won the Masters. Furthermore, he has failed to finish top five in either of the majors. So, are his early odds just another trap for bettors, or will Scheffler return to the top of the golf world this weekend?
